Affinia Healthcare planning for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
Affinia Healthcare will participate in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Friday, October 23 at its three pharmacy locations. This comes a day before the official DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day where a variety of law enforcement agencies and healthcare providers will safely collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs.
Take Back Day has helped Americans to safely rid their homes of unneeded medications for over a decade. This day has helped get rid of medications that are old, unwanted, or expired – medications that too often become a gateway to addiction.
This day offers free and anonymous disposal of unneeded medications at close to 5,000 drop-off locations nationwide. Affinia Healthcare will have available drug disposal pouches to destroy pharmaceutical products, helping to keep these drugs out of landfills and access to free naloxone, a medication used to reverse an opioid overdose.
