Current Residents
Dr. Hira Adil
Resident
Dr. Adil is a graduate of Khyber Girls Medical College in Peshawar, Pakistan, whose clinical training has been shaped by a strong commitment to community-centered care. In Pakistan, she completed an internship at Aga Khan University Hospital and an internal medicine externship focused on evidence-based, cost-effective care, while also taking on teaching roles with junior learners. Hira is deeply engaged in service to underserved communities, regularly volunteering in rural medical camps focused on women’s and children’s health. Her experiences in both high-resource and resource-limited settings, along with her background in public health and peer mentorship, have fostered a strong interest in comprehensive, family and community-oriented care.
Dr. Basudev Chaudhary
Resident
Dr. Chaudhary is a graduate of Kathmandu Medical College in Nepal whose training reflects a strong commitment to comprehensive, patient-centered care, particularly in underserved communities. He completed a broad internship followed by clinical work as a medical officer in both high-acuity ICU settings and community-based hospitals, where he managed diverse inpatient and outpatient conditions while coordinating care and counseling patients and families. His experiences caring for critically ill patients and working resource-limited environments have strengthened his clinical judgment, resilience, and teamwork. In addition, Dr. Chaudhary has been actively involved in community outreach through the Lions Club, helping organize health camps, blood donation drives, and initiatives to improve access for disadvantaged populations.
Dr. Sasha Dorestin
Resident
Dr. Dorestin is a graduate of Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine whose path to medicine has been shaped by early exposure to caregiving and a strong commitment to serving others. Prior to medical school, she worked as a certified nursing assistant in both hospital and long-term care settings, developing a deep appreciation for hands-on, patient-centered care. She later served as a clinical research coordinator at Mayo Clinic, contributing to studies across a range of chronic diseases. Throughout medical school, Dr. Dorestin has remained deeply engaged in community service, including outreach to individuals experiencing homelessness, volunteering at a family shelter, and mentoring youth. She is particularly passionate about addressing social determinants of health and building longitudinal relationships with patients.
Dr. Ahmed Shaikh
Resident
Dr. Shaikh is a graduate of O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University. A first-generation physician from a limited-income background, his medical training was shaped by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine, experiences that strengthened his resilience, adaptability, and commitment to compassionate care. He is passionate about Family Medicine and addressing the social determinants of health. Outside of medicine, he enjoys bodybuilding, traveling, and exploring diverse cultures, and is proficient in English, Hindi, Urdu, and Russian.
