Why Affinia Healthcare

Our Residency’s Vision:
  • To train Family Medicine physician leaders who practice high-quality, patient-centered care informed by the biopsychosocial model and who are representative of the communities they serve.
  • To foster the skills, compassion, and resilience required to care for under-resourced and marginalized populations.
  • To develop training opportunities that emphasize partnership with community organizations, enable learning through service, and encourage enduring investment in the local community.

Program Highlights

Mission-driven Care

Affinia Healthcare is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), ensuring care is provided regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. In our residency, patient care and residents’ education take priority over financial considerations.

Trailblazing Opportunity

As a member of our inaugural class, you will help shape the program while developing unique collaborations with faculty and gaining valuable leadership skills.

Diverse Patient Population

Residents will serve a wide range of cultural and socioeconomic groups, including the predominantly Black and Hispanic communities of North St. Louis County and immigrants from around the world.

Comprehensive Training

Residents will train alongside a broad network of specialists—including obstetricians, pediatricians, sports medicine physicians, and psychiatrists—building full-spectrum Family Medicine expertise.

Wellness and Work-life Balance Commitment

Weekly resident support time, annual retreats, and social gatherings will help foster relationships, manage stress, and support well-being. Residents will develop the skills and resilience required to sustain a rewarding career in Family Medicine.
