Resident Life
Resident Wellness
Family physicians in training must cultivate resilience to prepare for a fulfilling career serving their communities. At Affinia Healthcare, we recognize that wellness is a skill developed alongside medical expertise. We actively integrate well-being into our curriculum and provide residents with the resources they need to thrive.
Relationships are a vital source of strength. We foster a supportive community through weekly protected wellness time, resident retreats, and social events. Recognizing that residency impacts families and support networks, we welcome partners and children to create a more inclusive, enduring community.
Our didactic series includes sessions on self-care, stress reduction, mindfulness, and work-life balance. We also support financial wellness with instruction on debt management, retirement planning, and employment contract review. Faculty mentors help residents sustain fulfillment and satisfaction in their work—an essential safeguard against burnout.
St. Louis Highlights
North St. Louis County offers residents the rich culture, history, and unique attractions of the greater St. Louis area. With its affordable living, diverse neighborhoods, and easy access to urban amenities and outdoor recreation, it is an ideal place to live, work, and play.

The Gateway Arch, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, offers breathtaking views of the riverfront. Forest Park, larger than New York’s Central Park, is home to free, world-class attractions like the St. Louis Zoo, Art Museum, and Missouri History Museum. Other highlights include the City Museum, a whimsical architectural playground, and the Missouri Botanical Garden, one of the oldest in the U.S.

St. Louis is renowned for its diverse culinary scene. Residents can savor local favorites like toasted ravioli, gooey butter cake, and St. Louis-style pizza. The city is also a barbecue hotspot, with award-winning smokehouses. Neighborhoods like the Delmar Loop, Soulard, and Central West End offer everything from gourmet dining to international cuisine.

Sports fans will feel right at home with professional teams like the St. Louis Cardinals (MLB), St. Louis Blues (NHL), and St. Louis City SC (MLS). The city’s passionate fan base and top-tier venues, including Busch Stadium and CITYPARK, create an unforgettable game-day experience.
