Vaccine for Mpox is available at Affinia Healthcare

With the World Health Organization recently declaring Mpox a public health emergency, there may be concerns locally about the virus and more importantly, availability of the vaccination to prevent contraction of it.

Affinia Healthcare will offer the Mpox vaccinations at its partner location, Salvation Army Midtown, 2900 Washington Ave., on Thursdays 9-11:45 a.m., and Fridays from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Mpox vaccinations available include pre-exposure prophylaxis or PrEP, a vaccination to prevent Mpox (formerly referred to as Monkeypox).

The Mpox vaccine (JYNNEOS) is available for adults, 18 years and over. It requires two doses separated by 4 weeks. Mpox PrEP is intended for people with the highest potential for exposure to Mpox. The vaccine remains available for post-exposure protection.
