Affinia Healthcare announces inaugural class for family medicine residency program

Match Day 2026 culminated on March 20, and after an extensive process, Affinia Healthcare is proud to announce four applicants have been selected to participate in the inaugural Affinia Healthcare Family Medicine Residency Program.

“We are thrilled to conclude the search for this first class and look forward to welcoming them to Affinia Healthcare,” said Family Medicine Residency Program Director Dr. Kenneth Hemba. “There were many qualified candidates to choose from, and we believe we’ve selected an outstanding group of future leaders.”

The newly selected residents, Hira Adil, Basudev Chaudhary, Sasha Dorestin, and Ukasha Habib, will come to St. Louis from across the country to receive specialized training, professional development and gain real world experience before becoming licensed clinicians.

Beginning this residency program at the Ferguson Health Center means expanded access to care in an area which has seen a decline in access to equitable health services. The program is also a means for increasing the number of new providers.

“Affinia Healthcare opened the Ferguson Health Center as a result of a community health assessment identifying North St. Louis County as an area where unmet primary care needs were prevalent,” said Hemba. “Starting this residency program is an extended result of this assessment.”

Meeting the needs of the unmet and serving patients in underserved communities attracted residents to apply to the program so they could continue leveraging their knowledge.

The Family Medicine Residency Program received full accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) in 2025 and received over one thousand applications and completed about 90 interviews. The program will launch this summer.
