Inspired by the Patients We Serve

What does our tagline mean? At Affinia Healthcare, this phrase conveys the sentiment that the patients we serve inspire us to be more caring, compassionate and diligent, while we do our best to provide them with exceptional health care. National Health Center Week, (August 9-15, 2015), was a welcome opportunity to celebrate our patients … our community. We hosted a number of health-related events at various locations. These efforts touched the community we serve.

Kicking off the observance were annual Back-to-School Health Fairs, which were located at our S. Broadway and Biddle locations. Thousands of school-age children were in attendance and many received physical exams, dental exams, hearing and vision tests, as well as, haircuts, book supplies, and participated in fun hands-on activities. Just a few days later, our staff and sponsors offered a health fair for homeless participants at the St. Patrick Center in downtown St. Louis. Attendees were provided health screenings, personal care items, and an opportunity to enroll in Gateway to Better Health.

Serving as the capstone to our week of events, a contingent of state and regional officials from St. Louis were our guests for a morning gathering and to tour our facilities and mobile units. Blake Lawrence, Chief Counsel for Missouri Senator Jamilah Nasheed said, “Community health centers provide a great and noble purpose of helping those in need. The Affinia facilities are beautiful, the staff is welcoming and its high-quality services are needed. We didn’t want to miss this opportunity to show our support.”

National Health Center Week, sponsored by the National Association of Community Health Centers, has been celebrated for more than 30 years to recognize the services and contributions of Community, Migrant, Homeless and Public Housing Health Centers.

Affinia Healthcare takes pride in participating in National Health Center Week and we look forward to celebrating many more.
