Dr. Alan Freeman (“Alan”) is in his 16th year as president and chief executive officer at Affinia Healthcare in St. Louis, a community health center (CHC) organization.  His professional career spans thirty-seven years, including chief executive roles in two hospitals and two community health centers, and as Director of the Missouri Department of Social Services. 


Alan holds a doctorate in management and an MBA with a concentration in health services management from Webster University, where he is adjunct full professor in the University’s Walker School of Business and Technology.  He also holds a bachelor’s degree in management and an extended minor in music. 


In 2017, Alan was honored with Webster University’s Distinguished Alumni Award.  He has been an active participant in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) since 1994, and is a Fellow in the College.  He has been awarded both the Early Career and Senior-Level Healthcare Awards from ACHE’s Regent for Missouri; the Missouri Primary Care Association’s Samuel U. Rodger’s Achievement Award; and the National Association of Community Health Center’s Grassroots Advocacy Award. 


Among his current community service commitments are board membership on the St. Louis Regional Health Commission, Home State Health Plan, MO-ACHE Board of Directors, and participation on the Executive Committee for Cornerstone United Methodist Church in O’Fallon, MO.
